Special Info With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Desmond Sandy Jr., affectionately known as "Dessie" who departed this life on Wednesday 28th May, 2025, at the age of 41. Though his journey on this earth was marked by challenges, it was also filled with moments of light, laughter, and love.

Born on June 15th 1983 in Brooklyn, New York, Dessie was a son, brother, and friend. He was full of spirit, gifted with wit, and had a heart that was tender even when the world felt harsh. To those who knew him best, Dessie was someone who could brighten a room with a joke, comfort a friend with a word, and challenge others to see beyond appearances.

Desmond lived a complex and often misunderstood life. Yet through it all, he remained deeply human—deserving of love, compassion, and dignity. His struggles in life were never a reflection of weakness, but of a life lived navigating invisible battles that most of us will never fully comprehend. His journey was not easy, but it was brave. There were days of joy, of clarity, and of genuine connection—times when Dessie's true self shone through, reminding us all of the beauty that exists even in brokenness.

Desmond is survived by his father Desmond Sandy Sr., mother Clair Purcell Sandy, siblings, Curglen and Claredon Sandy, Keston Boatswain, Desmond Munroe and Denisha Wilson all in the US, Patricia Williams Prince, Desiree Francis and Pauline Sandy-Williams in Grenada. Several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, other close relatives and friends who will continue to hold his memory close—with compassion for his pain and gratitude for the moments they shared. He was deeply loved, even in his hardest times, and that love will not fade with his passing.

A funeral service for Desmond Sandy Jr. will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 1081 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, New York (between Maples Street and Lincoln Road) Viewing begins at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 AM and cremation.

Rest easy, Dessie. You were loved. You are free.
